Welcome to the Bramhope Methodist Church website. We hope that you will find it helpful and informative.

Our church is a long established Methodist Church in the beautiful Yorkshire village of Bramhope. We are a friendly and welcoming group of Christians of all ages who love to meet regularly for worship and fellowship and for whom Christianity isn’t just something we do on a Sunday morning but is a faith lived out in our daily lives. We are always happy to offer a warm welcome to new people and welcome them into the life of our church family.

Our church has two Presbyters, Rev Rick Ormrod and Rev Lesley Taylor (who is also our Circuit Superintendent Minister). They also share pastoral charge of Otley, Pool, Timble and Norwood Methodist churches, with whom we work in partnership in God’s ministry and mission in our area.

As a church we run a varied programme of services and activities for people of all ages. Some of our activities are aimed at particular age groups, like Meeting Point for older people. Other groups like the Film Club, Walking Group and the Coffee Shop provide opportunities for all ages to meet together.

We are also very active in serving our village community and host many community activities including Zumba, Pilates and Dance classes. Our church hall is available to hire for children’s parties and meetings.

If you would like further information that is not available on this site please get in touch with one of our ministers.

Methodism in Bramhope

Methodism in Bramhope has a long history, the first documentary evidence of Methodist preaching in the village dating back to 1777. Services took place in cottages and barns for many years until the first chapel was built in 1837. This building eventually became too small so the present church was built to replace it in 1896. The church has a central site at the heart of the village and is the location of many thriving groups and activities

Anne Wilkes has written a history of Methodism in Bramhope, and it can be found here
